Geraldine Laurent & The Tommy Halferty Organ Trio
Leading guitarist Tommy Halferty starts 2019 with a performance at Arthur's Blues n' Jazz Club on Thurs.7th of February with his Hammond Organ Trio featuring Scott Flanigan & Kevin Brady. Joining the trio on the night will be leading French Jazz Star Geraldine Laurent on Alto Saxophone.
Halferty has long established himself as One of The leading exponent's of Jazz Guitar playing from this country and has been for many years. He has performed & recorded for over 35 years with many of the World's stalwarts of the Improvisational & jazz music scene.
Laurent studied classical piano at the Niort conservatoire before changing to alto saxophone at the age of 12. She has been a member of the Christophe Joneau quartet. In parallel with her main trio with Yoni Zelnik and Laurent Bataille, she also had a trio with Hélène Labarrière et Éric Groleau, concentrating more on free improvisation. She cites John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins and Eric Dolphy among her influences.
